Hi Everyone! I’m YanXin, originally from Malaysia and hailing from a Chinese-Malay background. My life journey thus far is a fusion of sports, education, moving across continents, and technology, a unique tapestry that has enriched my life in countless ways. As I was introduced to squash at an early age, it served as my guiding passion and shaped my life for over 15 years. Through the sport, I learned essential life skills like discipline, resilience, and effective time management, virtues that have stayed on with me till this day.

Who am I?

My Journey to the Ivy League

Surprisingly, my dedication to squash opened doors I hadn't anticipated. Emerging as one of Malaysia's top 4 junior players, I proudly represented my country at the World Junior Championships, garnering notice from the US Squash Head Coach. This propelled me to pursue my undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012 while dedicating four years to competing on the varsity squash team. Through unwavering determination and steadfast commitment, I attained 4-time All American status and played an instrumental role in securing the Ivy League Championship Title for our team.

In a serendipitous turn, my journey led me to Japan in 2016, where I was involved in boosting the international presence of a Japanese ski resort. One of my career highlights there was successfully driving the strategic initiative of transforming the resort into an Olympic training ground. This experience further ignited a desire for further education, driving me to pursue an MBA at McGill University in Montreal in 2019.

Starting a new chapter in Japan

While pursuing my MBA, the dynamic evolution of the tech industry intrigued me, prompting me to dive deeper and immerse myself in the world of technology. My venture into the tech domain began at Bryj Technologies, where I started as an intern and swiftly progressed to the role of Lead Technical Project Manager. This career trajectory exemplifies my adaptability and eagerness to rise to new challenges.

Following three enriching years in Montreal, I was irresistibly drawn to Vancouver’s captivating mountains and serene beaches, prompting my relocation in 2022. Fuelled by a strong interest in Product Management and desire for a fresh challenge in Vancouver, I eagerly joined Rezgo as a Product Manager. This exciting opportunity allows me to seamlessly blend my technical proficiency and travel industry background, crafting innovative software solutions that empower tours, activities, and experience providers worldwide.

The Start of my Technology Career

In the words of Neale Donald Walsch, "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." Stepping beyond the confines of the four-walled squash courts and embarking on an unfamiliar journey to rural Japan marked a fresh chapter in my life. Since then, I've continued to expand my comfort zone's boundaries – be it relocating continents or transitioning careers to a new industry. Through these experiences, I've gained deeper self-awareness and clearer aspirations. With unwavering determination, I'm committed to extending those comfort zone boundaries even further, persistently pursuing avenues that foster continual personal growth and evolution.
